The Veterans Helping Veterans program idea was birthed out of the actions of four (4) retired military veterans that include myself and three other friends (who shall remain anonymous), who established a non-profit organization called Iron Sharpens Iron in 2019. The organization’s initial purpose was to provide minor home repairs to veterans in the Metro Atlanta area who could not afford contractor services. Some projects included constructing wheelchair ramps, replacing flooring, kitchen remodels, deck repairs and lawn services. As word of the organization and its services spread, other organizations such as the American Legion, Home Depot, and Lowe’s joined in providing materials and expert services.
